A few of you commented that you loved the colour of the silk jersey that I showed you in my last post. This is the top that was made out of the fabric. I think my face says it all...
What is it that doesn't work? ...the shiny fabric? ...is it too small? .... is it the unflattering gathering at the waistband?
Maybe all of the above?
I am really sorry I didn't use McCalls 6078 which I have made before - post here. I could have tried View B, the sleeveless cowl neck with no loops. I really think it would have been more successful...
Not sure whether to keep this top or move it straight out to someone else who it may love it... at least I have the cowl...
Ciao for now, the next post shows a much more successful outcome...
LOL. You don't look impressed. At. All.
ReplyDeleteI quite like the colour and think it would look fab paired with a really vibrant violet. I also like the gathers. I think the top might need a little more room in the bust - maybe just because of this fabric?
I can see why you have that look on your face. It looks too small which is such a pity as the style suits you probably the knit doesn't have same stretch, I got caught like that as well. Am I too cheeky in saying I might know a home for it, if it is going
ReplyDeleteSharon - you would be welcome to it. :) The fabric is so pretty and I know I will never wear it.
DeleteIt does look a bit small across the bust, maybe though it would work as a layering piece, under a navy jacket say, but maybe that's something you don't want to even think about in the middle of your summer - plus I'd hate to be the one to deprive Sharon!
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely colour. Your face says it all though. You won't be happy wearing it. I say adopt it out to a loving home and sew some more great garments that you are so good at making.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame! It's a gorgeous colour and it suits you. It will look lovely on Sharon, too.
ReplyDeleteYou will never feel great wearing this top, even though that colour is fabulous on you. Can't wait to see it on Sharon!!! :D
ReplyDeleteTick this one up to experience, unfortunately! Great colour on you, but I do think you have many other patterns to use in the future...
ReplyDeleteOh dear. The fabric is too much of a clingy type. It does make it look too small. Shame.
ReplyDeleteThat piece of fabric is being really mean to someone who is so fit and fabulous. Pull it apart, turn it into undies and forget all about it.
ReplyDeleteDitto to most all comments above. There is bound to be a charity that would love to have that to give to someone else.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that although the color itself is fantastic, it isn't doing anything for you, we have pretty similar hair color and I must steer clear of yellows .... and the fact that it is also too small, i'd say give it away and buy something like that fantastic green you made that beautiful evening gown of it agree's with your coloring very nicely:)
ReplyDeleteGive it away. Your posture says everything you need to know. You'll never wear it. The color is beautiful, but I agree with Marita. I bet it would look great on a brunette. I just hate when that happens. I have a beautiful pink silk jersey print that I have to gift to someone because I know it would just look dreadful on me.
ReplyDeleteOh well....you're definitely not happy.
ReplyDeleteOnto another project Sue:)
Sorry your top didn't turn out to your liking Sue.
ReplyDeleteYou have shown wisdom to question this top. I'd rehome it and not look back except if you like the top try a larger size and in a matt finish, perhaps a finer jersey? Yellow is a tricky colour to get right. Those torso crinkles can be flattering to figures if the fabric is fine but if its more subtantial they can tend to add weight visually.
ReplyDeleteSue, the color looks fab. That fabric is too clingy?
