My blogging has fallen in a pile lately but I will try and catch up and get my act together. I think one of the reasons is that I have been making lots of basics and they are not the most exciting to blog about, but they are good additions to the wardrobe as they get lots of wear.
I have put on weight and so many of my clothes don't fit, while waiting for this issue to resolve itself (hopeful, eh?) I have made some basics in my new size so I have *something* to wear! Another reason a lot hasn't been blogged is that my picture getting and quality hasn't been the greatest lately. However so as to move on, I am going to use the photos I have or I may never get my blog moving again!
First cab off the rank is a Kwik sew 3740. This pattern is a TNT in my wardrobe. I made a larger size than in the past, and even though I wear it, I don't believe I achieved a great fit. I should have kept the same shoulder size as my previous makes, maybe done a FBA and added some to the side seams. However I still have a wearable top and it has been worn a lot already.
Without further ado... a picture for you... no details as this has been reviewed many times already.
I also made one in black bamboo without the collar but have no photo.
Two basic tops done now but more wardrobe basics to come... Ciao!
That is an absolutely gorgeous colour for you - and a lovely photo. I don't know what you mean by poor picture quality. I can see what you mean about maybe needing an FBA, but it's so cold at the moment I certainly wouldn't be looking at it sideways! Great job, as always.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kelley - I love the colour too... worse photos to come yet. :)
DeleteIt is a good layering piece so the problems with the fit are not really obvious.
Nice to see you back Sue. I love your new top. A bit similar to the Burda one I've just made (not blogged yet) to test the fit and I think I'l be changing the pattern too. I have a merino in similar colour just washed and waiting for the changed pattern. At this 'time of life' I don't seem to be able to loose weight without a huge effort, so I figure I'll just keep doing all my exercise and eat well and when this settles, so will my weight I hope!
ReplyDeleteI blame my weight gain on "that time of life" too and am launching into an all out campaign to move it (somehow!) .... healthy eating and a change in exercise... following your regime. :) I look forward to seeing your Burda top.
DeleteYou look great Sue. And the best part is, you will look good no matter what.
ReplyDeleteVS - thanks - your so sweet!
DeleteThis looks like a great, comfortable top. You look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteIts so cold at the moment, all I can do is knit on the couch, wrapped up in a blanket! Your top is a gorgeous colour on you, and a set of basics is the best way to get the sewing mojo and the wardrobe back into gear.
ReplyDeleteThis long sleeved top will get lots of use with our current cold and windy weather. Love the colour ... J
ReplyDeleteSue, I can see this layering with so many of your lovely cardigans, the colour is gorgeous and a really great "basic". You would be paying quite a bit to get something this nice in RTW :)
ReplyDeleteLove your top - great neckline and colour. You look lovely in your new top.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! As to the FBA etc, don't forget that different fabrics will do different things. That could explain the shoulders etc. :)
ReplyDeleteBasics are needed and the blue looks amazing on you. The same shoulder would have made the neckline sit better but it works and will work with so many other things in your wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Back! Love the color of your new top!
ReplyDeleteBasics are good sue. I love the colour of this one. It looks very comfy
ReplyDeleteA great top in a beautiful colour. It looks lovely on you.
