But it left me with one question: what does she do with the zipper head which she leaves extending beyond the end of the seam? And what did you do with it? I am mystified! Please fill us in on the secret!

RuthAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5220148418489217731.post-45726374622410211322009-12-07T04:27:59.060+10:002009-12-07T04:27:59.060+10:00I totally love it! What a fun, fun skirt.

For the longest time I used Sandra's zipper method and then I bit the bullet and knuckled down with Burda's instructions and figured it out.

To me, there are 3 advantages to the Burda method - one, the pattern has been drafted with facings to fit a fly shield so you don't have to alter the pattern, two, there is a 5 mm overlap so the zipper is always hidden, three, the fly shield is a nice touch and as you say, extra protection from nippy teeth!

I made a tutorial here.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28163031@N07/4073819884/in/set-72157622728994670/

Using a wash out pen to mark the front fly sewing line helped me get a nice looking fly.

Well, I'm not saying of course that you should deviate from what works for you.. I'm just saying there are advantages in being able to skin the goose a variety of ways...Mary Nannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02577449410716501317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5220148418489217731.post-42232704270518351382009-12-06T23:01:24.931+10:002009-12-06T23:01:24.931+10:00I love how your skirt is looking.
